Free Training Offered by LASS
Programme for June 2012 to March 2013
The following training sessions are offered free of charge by LASS. Most include group work by participants and some include guest speakers.

HIV Basics
Elementary information about HIV, transmission, risks, testing and statistics. This will be of interest to anyone who currently has limited knowledge about HIV.
- Wednesday 20th June: 1pm – 4.30 pm
HIV in Schools & Colleges
The session will introduce themes around understanding HIV stigma & discrimination and examining the impact of HIV in education. The session will include use of different HIV resources suitable for use in schools & colleges.
- Thursday 13th September: 1pm – 4.30 pm
Living with HIV
This session will cover some basic HIV information and will include positive people talking about their experiences and issues related to their diagnosis and lives.
- Thursday 20th September: 9.30 am – 1pm
HIV and Culture
This session will be delivered in collaboration with people from different communities in Leicester. We will explore how culture affects people’s perspective and experiences of HIV. The session will look at ways of providing knowledge and empowerment about HIV with different cultural needs.
- Thursday 13th December: 1pm – 4.30 pm
HIV and Belief
We will explore how faith and belief can affect people’s understanding of facts and the role that is can play in helping people to live positively. The session will look at ways of providing knowledge and empowerment about HIV in the context of different beliefs and faith influences. This session will be delivered in collaboration with people from different faith communities in Leicester.
